Nikon software updates

Together with a new download centre, Nikon also released a number of updates.

ViewNX-i 1.0.0

• ViewNX‑i is the replacement of Nikon's ViewNX2 image browser software. It works together with Capture NX-D (version 1.2.0 and higher) and comes bundled the ViewNX Movie Editor.

Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.21.0

• Support for the D7200 has been added.
• A Show ViewNX-i option has been added to the Tools menu.
• A Show it with ViewNX-i option has been added to the When a new image is received from the camera item in the Transfer Options dialog accessed from the Tools menu > Transfer Options….

Nikon Capture NX-D Version 1.2.0

• Support for RAW images captured with the D7200 has been added.
• An Open with ViewNX-i option has been added to the File menu.
• An Open with ViewNX-i tool (icon) has been added to the toolbar.
• When NEF-format images were converted to a different format after cropping, the portion of the image remaining after conversion did not always correspond to the actual crop applied. This issue has been resolved.

Nikon releases Capture NX-D 1.0.3 and ViewNX 2.10.2

Nikon has released an update to its image editing and browsing applications Capture NX-D and ViewNX2.

Enhancements/bug fixes for Capture NX-D 1.0.3

• When images were adjusted in any of the following ways using Edit palette functions, and Capture NX-D was then launched again, the results of adjustments were not reflected. This issue has been resolved.
  - When White Balance was fine-tuned after selecting Use Gray Point or using the Gray Point Sample Tool
  - When the Quick Adjust setting under Picture Control was changed
  - When the luminosity curve was adjusted by moving the black-point input slider to a setting other than "0" with Master Lightness selected for LCH
  - When the chroma curve was adjusted by moving the output slider to a setting other than "0" with Chroma selected for LCH
  - When the tone curve was adjusted by moving the Levels & Curves black-point input slider to a setting other than "0"
• When a settings file, with which the Quick Adjust setting under Picture Control had been changed, was saved, the value saved for Quick Adjust only was "0". This issue has been resolved.
• When RAW images captured with cameras that support the Better Quality 2013 option for Noise Reduction in the Edit palette were adjusted, and the Intensity setting under Luminance was once changed to "0", subsequent changes to the Intensity setting were not reflected. This issue has been resolved.
• When the output slider was moved to a setting other than "0" with Chroma selected for LCH in the Edit palette, anchor points could not be added to the chroma curve at the intended positions. This issue has been resolved.
• When multiple images were captured with a User Custom Curve modified using a camera that does not support Picture Controls applied, changes made to the User Custom Curve during shooting were not reflected in images captured after the User Custom Curve had been changed. This issue has been resolved.

Additional modifications to the Windows version

• When Capture NX-D was launched with a single-display system after having been used with a multi-display system, an error was displayed and the application could not be launched. This issue has been resolved.
• An issue that sometimes caused Capture NX-D to freeze when keyboard operations were performed while working with the Edit palette has been resolved. 

Additional modifications to the Macintosh version

• When the keyboard shortcut (SHIFT + 0) was used to delete ratings, labels rather than ratings were deleted. This issue has been resolved.

Enhancements/bug fixes for ViewNX 2.10.2

• Support for the COOLPIX S6900 has been added.
• When image files are moved, copied, or deleted in ViewNX 2, sidecar files associated with the image files are now also moved, copied, or deleted along with image files. However, when image files are moved or copied to destinations outside of ViewNX 2, such as the desktop, sidecar files associated with the images files will not be moved or copied accordingly.

Nikon releases ViewNX 2.9.2

Nikon has just released version 2.9.2 of its all-in-one image browsing and editing software application.

Changes in v2.9.2

• Support for the Nikon 1 V3, Nikon 1 J4, and COOLPIX S810c has been added.

Nikon releases ViewNX 2.81

Nikon has released an update for it's image browsing and editing program ViewNX. The new 2.81 version adds support for the new D610 and Nikon 1 AW1 cameras.

Fixes and Enhancements

Both Mac and Windows versions

• Support for the D610, and the Nikon 1 AW1 has been added. 

Mac version only

• Frame rate settings of 50fps and 60fps have been added for Size settings of 1280 x 720(16:9) and 1920 × 1080(16:9) in the Create movie dialog when File > Create Movie... is selected in Nikon Movie Editor.
  However, the following two conditions must be met to select a Frame rate of 50fps or 60fps.
• Movies added to the storyboard must have been recorded at a frame rate of 50p or 60p, and they must be originals (unedited by any movie editing software).
• File type must be set to a type other than MOV (MotionJPEG/Linear PCM).

Nikon ViewNX 2.8.0 released

Nikon has released an update to their free ViewNX2 image browsing and editing suite. Version 2.8.0 has the following enhancements and fixes:

Windows and Macintosh version

• Support for the COOLPIX S6600 and COOLPIX L620 has been added.
• GeoTag in the toolbar has been changed to Map. In addition, "GPS data" and "GPS information" have been renamed "location data".
• The following support has been added for Motion Snapshots.
  - Slideshow function
  - When Short Movie Creator or Movie Editor is selected from the Open With option in the File menu, users can now choose Movies (MOV) and JPEG images or Movies (MOV).
  However, to choose one of the above, Short Movie Creator or Movie Editor must be registered in Open With > Register... > Open with Application beforehand.
• An Add/Edit Directional option has been added to the Map toolbar.
• A Merge Altitude Log with Track Log... option has been added to the Log Matching item.
  A location log saved with a camera, mobile phone, or other commercially available satellite navigation system receiver capable of acquiring location data can now be merged with an altitude (barometer) and depth log* saved using a Nikon digital camera.
  * Altitude (barometer) and depth logs are recorded by Nikon digital cameras equipped with barometers or depth gauges.

Windows version only

• Installation of QuickTime is no longer required.
• Frame rate options of 50 fps and 60 fps are now available for movies created using the Create Movie... item in the Nikon Movie Editor File menu and output at a size of 1280 x 720 (16:9) and 1920 x 1080 (16:9).
  However, the following two requirements apply when 50 fps or 60 fps is selected for Frame rate:
  - Only movies have been added to the storyboard (no still images)
  - An option other than MOV (MotionJPEG/Linear PCM) is selected for File type:

Macintosh version only

• Image display with the slideshow function is now compatible with Retina Display.

Nikon releases ViewNX 2.7.6 and Capture NX 2.4.3

Nikon just released an update for their ViewNX and Capture NX applications. Only minor fixes in these new releases.

Fixed in ViewNX 2.7.6

• Information for lenses used with the Auto Distortion function under File & Camera Information in the Metadata palette has been updated.
• The destination for the link when the NIKON IMAGE SPACE website is opened from the NIKON IMAGE SPACE area in the Browser palette has been updated from my Picturetown to NIKON IMAGE SPACE.

Fixed in Capture NX 2.4.3

• Information for lenses used with the Auto Distortion function under Camera & Lens Corrections in the Develop section has been updated.

Nikon releases Capture NX 2.4.2 and View NX 2.7.5

Nikon today released an update for their Capture NX2 and View NX2 applications.

Both updates address an issue with D600 raw images:

• When RAW images captured with a D600 running C firmware Ver. 1.01 at an Image area setting of DX (24×16) 1.5× and any Active D-Lighting setting other than Off were opened in Capture NX 2, a bright (whitish) diagonal line was visible. This issue has been resolved.

Nikon releases ViewNX 2.7.4

Nikon has released an update to their free image browser/editor ViewNX2.

The 2.7.4. update contains below fixes and enhancements.

Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions

• Support for the D7100 has been added.
• The correct lens name is now be displayed for still images captured with a digital-SLR camera and the AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR. However, in the following cases, the lens name displayed will indicate that it is a G-type lens in Metadata on the Edit palette.
• Images captured with a Nikon 1-series camera and the FT-1 mount adapter
• Movies recorded using a digital-SLR camera

Additional modifications to the Macintosh version

• An issue that prevented images saved in JPEG format with Capture NX 2 Ver. 2.3.0 or 2.3.1 from opening in ViewNX 2 has been resolved.

Nikon ViewNX 2.7.2 released

Nikon has released an update to their free image browser/editor ViewNX2.

The 2.7.2. update contains the following fixes:

• Support for the COOLPIX L27, COOLPIX L820, COOLPIX P520, COOLPIX S31, COOLPIX S5200, COOLPIX S9400, COOLPIX S9500, and COOLPIX AW110 has been added.
• With the renewal of Nikon's image storage and sharing service, my Picturetown (launched as NIKON IMAGE SPACE on January 28, 2013), ViewNX 2 has been modified to provide collaboration with NIKON IMAGE SPACE:
• The my Picturetown tab in the Browser palette has been changed to a NIKON IMAGE SPACE tab.
• Upload to my Picturetown… and Share on my Picturetown… options under the Web Service item in the toolbar have been changed to Upload to NIKON IMAGE SPACE… and Share on NIKON IMAGE SPACE…
• The my Picturetown option under the Web Service item in the File menu has been changed to NIKON IMAGE SPACE.

Nikon ViewNX 2.7.1 update

Nikon has released version 2.7.1 of its ViewNX2 all-in-one image browsing and editing application. Amongst others, this new version adds support for the Nikon D5200, and Nikon 1 S1 and J3 cameras. Here's the full list of changes and fixes:

Windows and Mac version

• Support for the Nikon 1 J3, Nikon 1 S1, COOLPIX S2700, COOLPIX S2750 and COOLPIX S6500 has been added.
• The following issues with movies recorded using the Nikon 1 J3 with White balance set to Underwater have been resolved:
• Thumbnails for movies transferred with Nikon Transfer 2 using a card reader were not displayed in the thumbnail list area.
• When "Metadata" is selected from the Edit palette, information other than that in File Info 1 is not displayed.
• The AF Noise Reduction function, which reduces noise produced by auto focusing during movie recording and picked by the built-in microphone, has been added for the following devices:
• Camera: The D3200 (released in May 2012), and later digital-SLR cameras.
• Lens: AF-S NIKKOR and AF-I NIKKOR lenses, and AF-S/AF-I teleconverters (AF-S/AF-I lenses are required).
• When the white balance of RAW images captured with the P7700 was adjusted using Use Gray Point, the specified point did not turn gray. This issue has been resolved.

Windows version

• Support for the 64bit- and 32bit- versions of Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 Enterprise has been added.
• When a large number of images were transferred with Nikon Transfer 2 using a card reader, Nikon Transfer 2 quit unexpectedly on rare occasions. This issue has been resolved.

Mac version

• Support for IEEE 1394 connection for the D1, D1H, and D1X has been eliminated.
• The following issues with combined use of Mac OS X version 10.6 and Nikon Transfer 2 have been resolved:
• When the camera and computer are connected and the camera is turned off after Nikon Transfer 2 is launched, Nikon Transfer 2 quits unexpectedly on rare occasions.
• When a large number of images on a memory card are transferred using a card reader, the transfer is terminated unexpectedly on rare occasions.

Nikon updates View NX2 and Capture NX2

Nikon released updates for their View NX2 and Capture NX2 software. The following improvements have been made:

Nikon View NX 2.6.0

• Focus points are now displayed in images captured with a Nikon 1 camera.

Nikon Capture NX 2.3.5

• Windows and Mac OS X versions: Support for RAW images captured with the Nikon 1 V2 has been added.
• Mac OS X version: support for Mac OS X version 10.8 has been added.

Nikon software updates

Nikon has recently released software updates for its Capture NX2, ViewNX2, and Camera Control Pro software.

The new software versions contain the following fixes and enhancements:

Nikon Capture NX2 2.3.4

• Support for RAW images captured with the Nikon 1 J2 (now shipping) and Coolpix P7700 has been added.
• When RAW images captured with a camera’s Auto distortion control function enabled were opened or edited, Capture NX 2 sometimes quit unexpectedly. This issue has been resolved.

Nikon Capture NX2 2.3.4 can be download from the Nikon EU website.
Note that this update requires a previous version of Nikon Capture NX2 already installed.

Nikon ViewNX 2.5.1 (Windows)

• An issue that caused horizontal lines to appear in images printed at paper sizes of A3+ (329 x 483 mm) or larger without margins has been resolved.

Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.11.1 (Mac)

• An issue that prevented Camera Control Pro 2 recognising the D4 on Macintosh computers equipped with a PowerPC processor has been resolved.

Nikon releases v2.5.0 of ViewNX2

Nikon just updated ViewNX2, their free all-in-one image browsing and editing software for both still images and movies. Nikon ViewNX2 includes Nikon Transfer 2 for transferring images to a computer.

ViewNX 2.5.0, available for Windows and Macintosh computers, contains the following update compared to v2.4.0:

• When images are transferred from a mass storage device with multiple media inserted with Disconnect automatically after transfer in the Nikon Transfer 2 Preferences panel checked, all recognized media are automatically disconnected after transfer.
